Staying safe running in Welsh hills

Welsh weather is rarely extreme and frequently serious. Most incidents here start with a small decision made while moving fast.

Wales does not often produce dramatic conditions. What it produces reliably is wet, windy and mild - the exact combination that causes hypothermia in people who did not think it was cold enough to worry about.

The other pattern worth naming: runners get into trouble because moving fast makes it easy to be further from safety than you intended, and easy to keep going when you should have turned round.
